It's been a busy week with non-stop gigs, the Carrying Stream Festival at the Folk Club, and recording my album. We worked on bass and cello this week with a wonderful musician, Joel, out in East Lothian. His contributions are beautiful. My workshop on anti-globalization songs at the World Development Movement AGM was attended by just two people. They were enthusiastic, though, so it was worth it! I went to see both Lucinda Williams and Mary Gauthier - two of my favourite singers. I chatted to Mary after the gig and she's interested in contributing her wonderful song Mercy Now to my anti-war album, so I'm thrilled. She's an amazing singer-songwriter: www.marygauthier.com . I've put a few new photos up onto my site: one of me playing in George Square, Glasgow, with a huge Bin The Bomb banner behind me, one with Julie Felix when she stayed with me in September, and one at the Time To Go anti-war march in Manchester, also in September. The Carrying Stream Festival (in tribute to Hamish Henderson - the great folklorist and songwriter) was a success this year with artists including Alistair Hulett, Tony McManus, Michael Marra & Liz Lochead, Alison McMorland and Jimmy Crowley taking part. I had the great priviledge of hosting the latter two. It's been great fun having all these wonderful musicians stay with me. Long may it last!!!
