I am co-organizing a Performers/Writers Blockade of Faslane next Wednesday 6th December between 10am-4pm at the nuclear weapons base outside Helensburgh (near Glasgow). This is part of the year-long blockade of Faslane which started this October. On 6th December lots of great musicians (including Roy Bailey, Alistair Hulett and Mick West) and writers (including George Monbiot and A.L. Kennedy) will be there.
We will have a tent with a PA system set up from which we will perform (in case the weather is awful). We are still looking for more people to join the blockade, so let me know if you would like to come along or perform some songs/tunes/poetry (whatever!) and we'll create a slot for you. You do not need to get arrested, but if you want to we will give you legal advice. Those who have been arrested so far have been released the next morning. Please let me know ASAP if you are able to attend at faslane365@songsforchange.com. If you are unable to attend please let me know if you'd still like your name to be added to the list of supporters.
There will be an optional preparatory session on the evening of Tuesday 5th December (the night before the blockade). We will serve supper at 6 pm at Langside Church (Ledard Road, Glasgow) and the session will begin at 7pm prompt and end by 10pm at the very latest. This will include introductions, finalizing who is performing/reading, a practical info/housekeeping section on who is staying where and how we get to Faslane the following morning, a quick legal briefing and the giving out of bust cards and the filling in of legal forms. There will be church floor accommodation for anyone who wants it (bring a sleeping bag).
