Just back from the wonderful Fylde Folk Festival in Fleetwood, outside Blackpool. I found the audiences very friendly and I particularly enjoyed the informal Saturday morning 'Meet David Ferrard' session when folk got to ask questions like 'What's your favourite anti-war song?'. I also enjoyed discovering some new acts who were playing the festival: the hilarious Mrs Ackroyd Band, young award-winning tunes band Last Orders, the five-part acapella group Muldoon's Picnic, and political Greek singer-songwriter George Papavgeris. I got to hear my friends Roy Bailey and Emily Smith play too, which is always a treat. After 24 consecutive nights of performing traditional Scottish folk songs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe it sure was nice to return to playing my own compositions. I even tried out a couple new songs which went down well. Now I'm on holiday for a couple weeks, so looking forward to catching up with myself after this hectic summer of gigs!
