I just met Odetta tonight who is one of my favourite folk singers. Ever since I heard her voice in my late teens I was smitten. She's touring Scotland at the moment with the Triptych festival. She's 75 and still an amazing performer. We chatted after a screening of the Newport Folk Festival film, Festival, in Edinburgh's Filmhouse. She was warm and gracious and said she looked forward to hearing my music! I never dreamed that I'd get to hear Odetta live let alone meet her.
